FOREWORD
It has been our experience that there are many people who want to become a real Christian but do not understand what to do.
The Bible teaches that a person is drawn by the Holy Spirit to submit his/her life to the lordship of Jesus. The Holy Spirit can convince a person of the truth of the “gospel message” based on that person’s understanding of the truth. The greater one understands the true message of Jesus, the greater is the Holy Spirit’s “drawing” to submit one’s life to Him.
Most people experience an inner “struggle” as they contemplate receiving Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. That is because there is an “enemy,” Satan, who does not want to lose his ownership of your spirit to Jesus. Satan is just as real as evil in the world.
Please pray and ask God to show you the truth about Jesus. It is our prayer that you will allow Jesus to come into your “heart” as your Lord and Master. He will receive you just as you are. You do not have to become “good enough” before turning your life over to Him.
Many people ask, “Who is Jesus Christ?” “What did He teach about God, Himself, Man, Satan, Sin, Hell, Forgiveness, Eternal Life?” This book is a summary of the “heart” of the teachings of Jesus those foundational truths which He taught over and over again. Ask God to reveal to you the truth about Jesus Christ.
Here are ten major truths that Jesus taught:
LOVE GOD - MAN LIFE
1. GOD LOVES YOU AND
WANTS YOU TO HAVE
AN ABUNDANT LIFE!
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes on Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
John 3:16
Jesus said, “I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.”
John 10:10
But God proved His love for us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
God is love…
I John 4:8
But most people do not have an abundant life.
Why?...
LIFE GOD MAN DEATH
2. EVERY PERSON HAS SINNED AGAINST GOD,
RESULTING IN SPIRITUAL DEATH AND
SEPARATION FROM GOD.
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23
For the wages of sin is death…
Romans 6:23
Your sins have made a separation between you and your God.
Isaiah 59:2
Man has been separated from God by sin this is spiritual death. Man tries to build a bridge across this separation by living a “good” life, and by religious activities.
But Jesus taught that...
LIFE GOD MAN DEATH
3. MAN CANNOT BE GOOD ENOUGH TO
BUILD A BRIDGE BACK TO GOD.
* Living “right” * Church Membership * Baptism* Religious activities
* “Believing in God” * Etc.None of these are adequate to overcome the separation fromGod caused by sin.
This is what God says about our “good” life and our religious activities:
(In the sight of God) all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment…
Isaiah 64:6
By grace you have been saved through faith...not as a result of works, that no one should boast.
Ephesians 2:8,9
He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done..
Titus 3:5
By the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight.
Romans 3:20
We cannot be good enough to go to heaven. But God does not accept us on the basis of our deeds...

One good deed does not balance out one bad deed. You should have been good twice.
And there are no religious acts that you can perform to overcome the problem of sin.
You do not go to heaven or hell on the basis of how good or how bad you have been.
YOU GO TO HEAVEN OR HELL ON THE BASIS OF WHATYOU DO WITH JESUS.
He who believes in Jesus is not judged; he who does not believe
has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name
of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:18
He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey
the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.
John 3:36
YOU CANNOT BE NEUTRAL TOWARD JESUS.
You are either in submission to Him, or you are in rebellion against
Him.Jesus said, “He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who
does not gather with Me, scatters.” Matthew 12:30
There are only two alternatives:
1. You submit to Him as your Savior and Lord.
2. You live in rebellion against Him.
Rebellion can take two forms:
1. Active aggression.
2. Passive indifference.

4. GOD SENT HIS SON, JESUS,
TO DIE FOR OUR SINS AND TO MAKE A BRIDGE BACK TO GOD. |
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
John 3:16
For Christ died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in
order that He might bring us to God… I Peter 3:18
God made Him Who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we
might become the righteousness of God in Him.
II Corinthians 5:21
But God demonstrated His own love toward us, in that while we
were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
After Jesus had been dead for three days, the greatest miracle in history took place...

|
From that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day.
Matthew 16:21
Now late on the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the grave. And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it...And the angel answered and said to the woman, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come see the place where He was lying. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead… Matthew 28:1,2,5-7
And when they had carried out all that was written (in the Old Testament) concerning Him, they took Him down from the cross and laid Him in a tomb. But God raised Him from the dead; and for many days He appeared to those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, the very ones who are now His witnesses to the people.
Acts 13:29-31
So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.
Mark 16:19
Although Jesus died for the sins of every person and was raised from the dead to prove it why isn’t everyone a Christian?
Because...
6. EACH PERSON MUST
RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST
AS SAVIOR AND LORD
BY PERSONAL INVITATION
EACH PERSON
No one can become a Christian for you. You are not a
Christian because you are born in a “Christian” nation or a
Christian family. It must be your decision.
God Himself will not force you.
Choose for yourselves today whom you will serve.
Joshua 24:15
MUST RECEIVE
To receive Jesus is to believe that:
1. He is the Son of God.
2. He died for your sins.
3. He raised from the dead.
and to submit to His lordship (ownership).
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to
become children of God, even to those who believe on His
name.
John 1:12
JESUS CHRIST
These are Greek translations for Hebrew words:
Jesus = Savior
Christ = Anointed One (Messiah)
Jesus is the Savior of the world, the Anointed One of God.
Jesus, Himself, said that He is the Son of God, and that He is the only way
any person can come into right relationship with God the Father.
Jesus said, “I am the Son of God…” John 10:36
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no
one comes to the Father but through Me.” John 14:6
And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name
under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must
be saved. Acts 4:12
AS SAVIOR AND LORD...
Jesus took your sins, your shame, your guilt, your punishment
on Himself in order that you could be forgiven and receive His
righteousness.
God made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we
might become the righteousness of God in Him. II Corinthians 5:21
The lordship of Jesus is a lordship of love. Jesus said:
“By this is My Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be
My disciples. As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My
love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have
kept My Father‟s commandments and abide in His love. These things I have
spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”
John 15: 8-12
Jesus desires your fellowship
God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son,
Jesus Christ our Lord. I Corinthians 1:9
...that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may
have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with
His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may
be full. I John 1:3,4
Jesus demands your obedience
Jesus said, “And why do you call Me „Lord, Lord,‟ and do not do what I say.”
Luke 6:46
BY PERSONAL INVITATION
Believing that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for your sins, and that
God raised Him from the dead, ask Him:
1. To forgive you of your sins.
2. To come into your life as Lord.
If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart
that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. Romans 10:9
Jesus PROMISES to come into your life if you will ask Him and submit to Him.
Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My
voice and opens the door, I will come in to him…” Revelation 3:20
For whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.
Romans 10:13

REPENTANCE IS:
1.Changing one’s mind and purpose for the better; turning around and going the right direction.
2. Agreeing with God about sin. If He says it’s wrong, it’s wrong.
3. A decision to turn from sin to obey God.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our
sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9
Repent therefore and return, that your sins may be wiped away,
in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of
the Lord. Acts 3:19
Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying,
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent
and believe in the gospel.”
Mark 1:14,15
Jesus said, “Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”
Luke 13:3
God is now declaring to men that all everywhere should repent.
Acts 17:30
Jesus said, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer death and rise
again from the dead the third day; and that repentance for forgiveness of
sins should be proclaimed in His name to all the nations.”
Luke 24:46,47
But like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your
behavior; because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
I Peter 1:15,16
Repentance is a decision of the will.
Don’t wait until you “feel like it” to make right decisions.
Keep making right decisions and your emotions will follow.
YOU CAN RECEIVE JESUS AS YOUR SAVIOR AND LORD BY
PRAYING A PRAYER OF FAITH AND SURRENDER.
For example:
Heavenly Father,
I do believe that you sent your Son, Jesus to die for my sins.
I do believe that you raised Him from the dead.
I confess that I have sinned against You, and that I am willing
to turn from my sins. I will trust You to give me power over them.
Jesus, I now ask You to come into my life as my Savior and my
Lord. From this day forward, to the best of my ability, I will
live my life to be pleasing to You. It is my desire to know You
and to enjoy Your fellowship. Thank You for forgiving me of all of my
sins, and for giving me eternal life.
Amen.
THERE ARE TWO BASIC KINDS OF PRAYER:
1. A prayer for help. 2. A prayer of faith and surrender.
Have you ever prayed a prayer of faith and surrender? No Yes
There are two major reasons why many people refuse to pray this prayer:
1. They are concerned what others may think.
2. They are not willing to make the changes in their life-style they know Jesus would want them to make.
Jesus said, “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and
forfeit his soul? For what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and
sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He
comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels. Mark 8:36-38
If you are willing to turn from your sins, Jesus will give you power over them after He comes into your life.
You can pray a prayer of faith and surrender at any time and at any place.
Why not stop and pray right now?
8. IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING AT
THIS TIME TO BECOME A REAL
CHRISTIAN, THERE ARE TWO
FACTS YOU NEED TO KNOW
FACT NUMBER ONE: EVERY PERSON WHO IS NOT A CHRISTIAN BELONGS TO SATAN AND THE KINGDOM OF DARKNESS.
We know that we (who believe in Jesus) belong to God even though the
whole world is under the rule of the Evil one. I John 5:19
Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me; for I
proceeded forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My
own initiative, but He sent me...You are of your father the devil. John 8:42,44
The god of this world (Satan) has blinded the minds of the unbelieving…
II Corinthians 4:4
Jesus said to the Apostle Paul, “I send you to the Gentiles, to open their
eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of
Satan to God… Acts 26:16-18
Satan is evil and he is your enemy!
It is his desire to destroy you.
He will tempt you with passing pleasures in order to
accomplish your eternal destruction.
IF YOU DIE WITHOUT HAVING
FACT NUMBER TWO:
RECEIVED JESUS AS YOUR SAVIOR
AND LORD, YOU WILL SPEND
ETERNITY WITH SATAN IN HELL.
Jesus said, “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man (Jesus),
and the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are the sons of
the Kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the Evil one; and the enemy
who sowed them is the Devil, and the harvest is the end of the age; and
the reapers are angels. Therefore just as the tares are gathered up and
burned with fire, so shall it be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will
send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His Kingdom all stumbling
blocks, and those who commit lawlessness, and will cast them into
the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of
teeth. Matthew 13:37-42
It is appointed for men to die once, and after this comes judgement.
Hebrews 9:27
Jesus said, “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does
not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
John 3;38
God will do what is right...He will do this when the Lord Jesus appears
from heaven with His mighty angels, with a flaming fire, to punish those
who reject God and who do not obey the Good News about our Lord
Jesus. They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, separated
from the presence of the Lord and from His glorious might….
II Thessalonians 2:6-9
And the Devil who deceived them will be thrown into the lake of fire and
brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will
be tormented day and night forever and ever... And if anyone‟s name is
not found written in the book of life, he will be thrown into the lake of
fire. Revelation 20:10,15
Satan and hell are just as real as evil in the world. God says that
those who side with Satan and evil must be punished.
9. IF YOU SINCERELY ASKED
JESUS TO COME INTO YOUR
LIFE AS SAVIOR AND LORD,
HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED
1. JESUS IN THE PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT CAME TO LIVE IN YOU.
Jesus said, “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another
Helper...the Holy Spirit...He will be in you.” John 14:16,17
Or, do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is
in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own for
you have been bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.
I Corinthians 6:19,20
You are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God
dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does
not belong to Him. Romans 8:9
2. YOUR SINS WERE COMPLETELY FORGIVEN.
And when you were dead (spiritually) in your transgressions ...He made
you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our
transgressions. Colossians 2:13
I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you
for His name‟s sake. I John 2:12
Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven, and whose
sins have been covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not
take into account. Romans 4:7,8
3. YOU BECAME A NEW AND DIFFERENT PERSON.
When anyone is joined to Christ, he is a new being; the old has
gone, the new has come. II Corinthians 5:17
...as Christ was raised from the dead...so we, too, might walk
in newness of life. Romans 6:4
4. YOU WERE TRANSFERRED FROM THE KINGDOM OF
SATAN TO THE KINGDOM OF GOD.
Jesus said, “I am sending you to the Gentiles, to open their
eyes so they may turn from darkness to light and from the
dominion of Satan to God, in order that they may receive
forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have
been sanctified by Me.” Acts 26:17,18
For you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the
Lord; walk as children of light. Ephesians 5:8
Give thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the
inheritance of the saints in light. For He delivered us from the
domain of darkness, and transferred us to the Kingdom of His
beloved Son. Colossians 1:12,13
5. YOU WERE GIVEN ETERNAL LIFE.
And the witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and
this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who
does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These
things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son
of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life.
I John 5:11-13
Satan will tell you that these things are not true. Believe the Word of God, not Satan, and not your emotions.
10. THE FIRST THING GOD WANTS YOU TO DO AS A CHRISTIAN IS TO BE BAPTIZED.
JESUS WAS BAPTIZED TO BE OUR EXAMPLE.
Then Jesus arrived from Galilee at the Jordan coming to John, to be
baptized by him. But John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I have need to
be baptized by you, and do You come to me?” But Jesus answering said
to him, “Permit it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill
all righteousness.” Then John baptized Him. And after being baptized,
Jesus went up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were
opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, coming upon
Him. Matthew 3:13-15
JESUS COMMANDS US TO BE BAPTIZED.
Jesus said, “All authority has been given Me in heaven and on earth. Go
therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to
observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to
the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
BAPTISM SYMBOLIZES OUR UNION WITH JESUS IN HIS
DEATH, BURIAL, AND RESURRECTION.
Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ
Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been
buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was
raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we, too, might
walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with Him in the
likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of His
resurrection.
Romans 6:3-5
YOU WILL MATURE SPIRITUALLY
IF YOU WILL DO THE FOLLOWING:
1. BECOME A PART OF A CHURCH WHERE THE BIBLE
IS TAUGHT AND BELIEVED.
And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love
and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together…
but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see
the day (of Christ‟s return) drawing near. Hebrews 10:24,25
2. READ THE BIBLE DAILY.
Like newborn babes, long for the pure milk of the Word of
God, that by it you may grow… I Peter 2:2
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that
proceeds from the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4
3. PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING.
Don‟t worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made
known to God. Philippians 4:6,7
4. OBEY WHAT GOD TELLS YOU TO DO.
Do not deceive yourselves by just listening to His Word;
instead, put it into practice. James 1:22
5. TELL OTHERS ABOUT JESUS.
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed
from the hand of the enemy. Psalm 107:2
